Key Data Points

Eliminated VPN dependency for lab access
Enabled cross-device support via HTML-based browser access
Improved security by fully segmenting lab networks and infrastructure

The Vision

Empower TCM Security with a scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure to rapidly provision isolated, hands-on lab environments—enabling them to grow their B2B capabilities and deliver seamless cybersecurity training experiences using AWS and open-source technologies.

The Goal

Implement automated, browser-accessible lab environments that are scalable, isolated, and easy to manage—ensuring a frictionless experience for learners and enterprise partners alike.

The Challenge

  • Legacy VPN-based lab deployments were clunky and created user friction
  • Complex client-side setups limited accessibility and scalability
  • The team lacked a secure, streamlined process for rapidly deploying isolated environments for enterprise-grade training
  • The Solution

Protagona delivered a cloud-native Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment built on AWS using CloudFormation, Lambda, and open-source tech. Key features included:

    • Browser-based access to Kali Linux VMs—no VPN or local install required
    • Automated environment provisioning and teardown to reduce admin overhead
    • Secure network segmentation to isolate each lab and maintain compliance
    • Elastic scaling to support hundreds of simultaneous learners during live sessions or partner-led engagements

    OUTCOMES

As a team, we were struggling to properly implement some lab items within AWS. Protagona had a quick solution for what would have taken us hundreds of hours to figure out on our own. We are incredibly happy with the services received.
