Vast Bank’s goals required that security & compliance remained in the forefront of every decision, while enabling reliable delivery of transactional ledger data to its partners. The solution needed to be fully built around Amazon Web Services, and be end-to-end auditable at any point in time.

Lastly, the solution needed to give partners an interface to securely retrieve data on-demand, regardless of their tech-capabilities.

Protagona developed a multi-staged, repeatable event-driven ETL pipeline that periodically extracted data from core-banking sources, transformed the proprietary data to a standard CSV ledger, and validated key data-points, before triggering the creation of micro-transaction ledgers relevant to each partner.

The core ETL actions were implemented via AWS Glue. Glue provides a managed mechanism to schedule and trigger data extraction and transformations at-scale, as well as a robust framework to do qualitative data checks. Once the data had been E-T’d, it was broken down into partner micro-ledgers, and shuttled to dedicated Amazon S3 landing zones. These landing zones are entirely locked down and their access audited 24/7.
